BitNami for XAMPP

    BitNami for XAMPP greatly simplifies the development of PHP applications on top of ApacheFriends XAMPP, installing WordPress, Drupal with Drush, Joomla! and many more open source applications on top of XAMPP.

     

    IMPORTANT: BitNami for XAMPP works properly on top of the portable version. Due to application requirements, once you installed the app you can not move or rename your XAMPP directory.

    How do I download and install BitNami for XAMPP Stack?

    xampp-logo.jpgYou can download BitNami for XAMPP modules here. It is necessary to have XAMPP already installed. It is supported XAMPP (installer or zip file) version 1.7.4 or later on Windows, version 1.8.1 or later on Linux or 1.8.2 or later on OS X.

    Where is the installation directory?

    BitNami for XAMPP modules can be installed on top of XAMPP or on top of BitNami LAMP, MAMP or WAMP stacks. In both cases you need to specify the installation directory. By default, the installation directory of XAMPP are the following:

     

    win_platform.png On Windows:   C:\xampp

    linux_platform.png On Linux: /opt/lampp

    mac_platform.png On OS X:   /Applications/XAMPP

     

    What is the XAMPP MySQL password?

    BitNami for XAMPP modules require to specify the MySQL root password to create the application databases. It is important the XAMPP MySQL server should be running.

    The default XAMPP MySQL password is empty. If you did not change the this password the module installer will not request it during the installation.

    What is the default username and password for the application?

    The administrator credentials for the applications are configured from the installer. The default values are the following:

    username: user (by default)

    password: configured during the installation

    You can access the applications directly from your browser at: http://localhost/application For example WordPress will be running at http://localhost/wordpress

    Where are the application files installed?

    The applications are installed on top of your XAMPP directory, in the "apps" folder. All the applications are configured following the same structure:

    xampp_installdir/apps/wordpress/htdocs:   WordPress files

    xampp_installdir/apache/conf/httpd.conf: WordPress configuration file

    Include "/xampp_installdir/apps/wordpress/conf/httpd-prefix.conf"

    How to start the new Manager for Linux and OS X?

    Since 1.8.2 beta2 version, XAMPP for Linux and OS X already ships a new graphical Manager tool.

    Drush is a command line shell and scripting interface for Drupal. You can start using it from the XAMPP Shell.

    You can use the Drush command line tool for managing Drupal from the command line.
